There were times my family and I had to make difficult decisions just to get by. The burden of tuition, school supplies, transportation, and daily expenses became overwhelming. In 2021, I began my journey at the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center, taking up Bachelor of Science in Nursing. With encouragement from my family and the strength of my dream, I applied for the SUNLAD scholarship, hoping for a miracle. And that miracle came. Being chosen as a SUNLAD scholar lifted a huge weight off my shoulders. It allowed me to focus on my academics and clinical training without constantly worrying about where the next payment would come from. More than the financial support, it gave me hope. It was year 2021, in the middle of the pandemic, when I took the Electrical Engineering course at Bulacan State University. I waited for the slots for BulSU to open, I was lucky enough to have free tuition thanks to UniFAST Free Higher Education. Being a SUNLAD scholar made me more confident thanks to their financial aid, as I won't worry as much on school projects and
transportation, even food. I had to keep my part by sending monthly reports every end of the month. I am thankful to be a SUNLAD scholar. Their kind gesture eased the burden on my
family. I promise to live up to my potential and live up to the core values of the foundation.

As I considered my collegiate career route, the anxiety and apprehension that frequently followed such a crucial choice weighed heavily on me.
